Yankees Are in a World of Hurt
This might just be Game 3 of the ALCS for the New York Yankees tonight, but it might as well be an elimination game. Spectators across the country are screaming at their television sets looking for some sign of life from the Bronx Bombers.
Ranking College Football's Top 25 - Week 7
After seven weeks of the college football season, the top two teams have separated themselves from the pack. However, right below them, a grouping of squads has emerged to challenge the top two if any slip-ups occur. While not many teams fell out of the top 25 this week, there was certainly quite a bit of movement as teams began to define their seasons.
Previewing Saturday's Biggest College Football Matchups
This should be another interesting week of college football with two rivalry games leading the way.  Also, another big pecking order game in the SEC awaits, as well as a member of that conference taking on a non-BCS heavyweight.
Missing the Two-Sport Athlete
It was 20 years ago today when Deion Sanders made a little bit of sporting history. On October 11th, 1992, “Prime Time” played for the Atlanta Falcons after taking the field the night before in Game 4 of the NLCS for the Atlanta Braves.
Ryan Foolishly Procrastinating on
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan saw what Tim Tebow did for a 1-4 Denver Broncos team last year. In fact, Ryan witnessed the Tebow effect up close last year, when in week 11 a late 20 yard TD scamper by the quarterback sealed a 17-13 victory over the Jets. That is, at least in part, why were led to believe that his team traded for the controversial superstar.
Ranking College Football's Top 25 - Week 6
A week of the biggest slate of games yet to hit the college football season caused a big shift in the top ten.  Losses by FSU, LSU, Georgia, and Texas changed the landscape overnight.   Several teams also found themselves booted from the rankings this week, prompting week six to be dubbed a week of movement.
Previewing Saturday's Biggest College Football Matchups
Week six of the college football season provides us perhaps the best slate of games we have seen on any weekend yet.  A pair of games that could shape the SEC race highlight the day, as well as a top contender showdown in the Big 12 and a little rivalry game known simply as "Catholics versus Convicts".
Miami Becoming Stepping Stone U
In a time of great turbulence for the University of Miami athletic department, the worst thing that can happen is a shakeup in the power structure. However, just 18 months after Shawn Eichorst succeeded Kirby Hocutt as athletic director for the Canes, reports are coming out of Coral Gables that he is resigning today.
Cabrera's Late Season Heroics Gives MVP Edge
Let me preface this column by saying what Mike Trout has done this season is historic in its own right. His combination of skills is something that comes around once in a generation, but unfortunately, that does not make him the MVP.
Confident Magic Convey a Positive 2012-13 Outlook
Around this new look Orlando Magic team, instead of an air of helplessness, hope springs eternal. Words like opportunity, competition, and yes even winning are ones that fly from the top to the bottom of the remade franchise.
Ranking College Football's Top 25 - Week 5
Little movement occurred in the top 25 this week. The only major change was the continuing questions that mount about LSU after their win over Towson lacked style points. This upcoming weekend should see some shifting among the top 10, with South Carolina taking on Georgia, LSU heading to Florida, and Texas facing West Virginia.
Picking Saturday's Biggest College Football Games
Week 5 of the college football season brings us a bit of a smaller slate of games.  Still, a couple top 25 match-ups and four important conference tilts highlight our list of games to watch.
Thursday Night Mismatch Gives Ravens Perfect Showcase
Let’s face it: the Cleveland Browns are the worst team in football. As one of only two 0-3 teams with the Saints being the other, there is not much debate. On Thursday night, they will see a team that has beaten them eight straight times, the Baltimore Ravens.
Assessing the Heisman Race After Four Weeks
The Heisman race has been all over the map so far through four weeks. In fact, the almost unanimous preseason favorite, USC’s Matt Barkley no longer even appears on this list. With the rise and fall of several contenders, here is a breakdown of the current field.
Monday Night Disaster Spells Speedy Return for Officials
Monday night provided NFL fans the moment they had been waiting for for three weeks. While the replacement officials have been a much-maligned group, there was not that one singular blown call that galvanized the entire country.
