The entire gaming community was anticipating today's big announcement from Microsoft, which unveiled its new Xbox One gaming console, but the project that has everyone talking was one that no one saw coming.

As a part of their big presentation, Microsoft announced a "Halo" television series that will be produced by Steven Spielberg. The sci-fi action franchise has seemed poised for live-action adaptation since it first hit shelves in 2001, but this is the first time fans will get to see the Spartans outside of a few well-produced ads.

There's no word on how this series will be brought to your screen. One of the biggest aspects of the Xbox One that Microsoft touted during its hour-long press conference today was the easy of switching between gaming and live television with the use of your voice and Kinnect.

It's possible that Xbox One will offer original video content similar to Netflix, meaning that you would have to be an Xbox Live subscriber in order to watch the "Halo" television series.

The series is being described a "premium" programming, which essentially means that they're going to spend some money making. This isn't exactly surprising to anyone familiar with the games, since the action takes place on other worlds and includes battle against alien species.

This is the second highest profile "Halo" project to date. The first, Peter Jackson's feature film that would have been directed by future "District 9" helmer Neill Blomkamp, failed to get off the ground due to studio turmoil.

Lars von Trier had his actors get down and dirty in his new sexually charged movie "Nymphomaniac." Fans can expect to see the film's stars like Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman and Stellan Skarsgard take part in graphic sex scenes with one another when the film finally hits theaters.

Except they won't actually be having sex, as it turns out. The Hollywood Reporter learned from the film's producer, Louise Vesth, that von Trier actually shot two separate versions of the sex scenes: one featuring the actors, and the other featuring body doubles actually having sex. The director now plans to "use digital technology to combine the actors' non-explicit displays with the pornographic performance of the doubles," THR reports.

"We shot the actors pretending to have sex and then had the body doubles, who really did have sex, and in post we will digital-impose the two," Vesth said. "So above the waist it will be the star and the below the waist it will be the doubles."

This is the reason why "Nymphomaniac" wasn't ready to be presented at the Cannes Film Festival or any other festival on the circuit. It's an interesting move to have the sex scenes be composites, but at least we can be sure that there will be some crazy ridiculous lovemaking in this upcoming movie.

"The Last Stand," Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to his role as a leading man action star, hits Blu-ray and DVD today, so we're bringing you this exclusive look at a featurette from the disc. If you've ever seen how Schwarzenegger talks about his movies, especially the "Total Recall" audio commentary, you know how fun it can be.

Also, to celebrate the release, we spoke with Schwarzenegger's co-star Jaimie Alexander, who explained what it was like to watch herself in an action movie alongside the legend.

How has it been looking back at "The Last Stand"?
I've said it before, but this probably the most fun I've ever had on a set. We all would eat lunch together every day. We just had such a great crew and cast. I wish there could be a sequel.

Is it different watching yourself in an action movie?
With me in action films, I feel like the focus isn't directly on me as an actress. It's more about what's going on around me. When I watch it, I'm not as critical of myself. I'm more like, "Whoa, that was crazy." When I see something that I've done, like a drama or a comedy, it's like crickets. I get nervous because I'm front and center. I only watch myself when I have to go to the premiere. I don't own any of my own movie or anything. I don't know if that's weird or very Johnny Depp of me to say, but that's the truth.

How about watching yourself next to Arnold Schwarzenegger?
It was pretty cool. I have four brothers, and seeing it through them and seeing how excited they were. We all grew up watching Arnold's movies. He's very much a hero to us and an idol. I couldn't believe when I signed onto this. I just thought, "Holy crap. I'm doing an action film with Arnold Schwarzenegger." I have all of his movies from when I was a kid. It was one of those moments when I first met him. I was thinking, "Don't say anything dumb. Don't do anything weird." I was kind of nervous, and he's just a really nice guy. He's got a crazy sense of humor, and he's genuinely himself. I just appreciated that so much.

Was there anything in the movie that made you think "I can't believe I did that"?
There's a scene that was kind of cut together where you couldn't quite see what happened or how I got into the Suburban, but he spins the Suburban in a 360, and I have to literally jump into the Suburban, hanging onto Zach Gilford's leg. I thought, "Schwarzenegger's driving this, and I'm jumping in, and this is really epic." I did all of my own stunts on that movie. I think it was more of an ego thing because I wanted to show Schwarzenegger that I could do it. The man jumped off a building and when through three awnings. That was him. He's 65. If he can do that, I'm jumping in this Suburban.

"The Last Stand" hits Blu-ray and DVD today!

It's pretty safe to say that the people portrayed in the true-life drama, "The Bling Ring," don't exactly have their priorities in line. The movie, which is tearing it up in Cannes right now, tells the story of a group of L.A.-based teens who want to live the life of a celebrity, so they do the next best thing by breaking into their homes.

A new clip from "The Bling Ring" gives us a unique look inside the psyches of these criminally dubious teens via their dream board.

In the seven years that "Arrested Development" has been off the air, a lot must have happened to the hilarious and perpetually destructive Bluth family. Or not. The show is called "Arrested Development" after all.

But since seven years is a long time regardless of how arrested the development of the Bluth is, MTV News sat down with the cast of the cult TV show to see what everyone has been up to since the last time that we visited with the family.

"Arrested Development" returns on Netflix this coming Sunday, May 26.

There had to come a day when "Star Wars" casting rumors would concern someone besides Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher eventually, and it looks like today is that day.

The usually trustworthy folks over at Latino Review have taken the first crack at reporting which actor will be some of the new blood on J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII," and it's somebody that the director has previously worked with.

Jonathan Rhys Meyer had a memorable role in Abrams' "Mission: Impossible 3," but didn't make the jump to "Ghost Protocol" with director Brad Bird, and he, according to Latino Review, is the first actor in talks for the new "Star Wars."

So what does this mean for "Star Wars"? There's no information in the Latino Review story other than Meyers' name, so take it with a grain of salt for now. The reliability of Latino Review has never been tested on "Star Wars," other than when they "confirmed" a Harrison Ford deal, despite his interest in returning being on the books since right after deal with Disney was made public.

All that we know so far about the movie is Abrams involved, Michael Arndt as screenwriter, and the likely reprisals from Hamill, Ford, and Fisher. There have been some whispers over Twitter and buried in other news stories about a young female lead for the film, but there has been no official word on that front.

Expect to hear more casting news about "Star Wars: Episode VII" in the coming months.

Picking a project for Holllywood actors can come down to a single aspect, whether it's an acclaimed director or the location of the shoot. For Jeremy Renner and "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters," all he needed was simple piece of concept art.

As Renner explains in this exclusive from the Blu-ray and DVD release of "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters," the one-sheet image of his character and his on-screen sister convinced him that the movie was worth doing before he even saw a script.

"The initial attraction to do the movie came from a little one sheet that I got before I even got the script, and it was something that they ended up shooting in the movie. It was Hansel and Gretel walking away," Renner says. "There's a fire going and a witch burning in the background. He has a shotgun, and she has this crossbow. That's interesting to me. I don't know why, but it was."

The unrated version of "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" hits Blu-ray and DVD on June 11. It is available for digital download now.

The Michael Bay-produced reboot of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise has been filming in New York City for a few weeks now, and turtles sightings—or sighting of actors in awkward motion capture suits—have become more and more frequent.

MTV News got word that Megan Fox, this version's April O'Neil, was filming a scene just down the street from our Times Square offices, so I headed down to 47th and Broadway to see what I could see.

Fox was on hand, along with one of her amphibian costars, Alan Ritchson who plays Raphael, plus three other well-known characters that you might not expect.

As soon as I arrived on set, I was swept into a crowd of pedestrians who were walking across the street and into the background of the shot. Fox and Ritchson stood outside a Starbucks there. As I walked past, a Steadicam rig circled the two actors. Ritchson was handing Fox his character's signature weapon, two sai.

The background extras reset—meaning we turned around and walked back where we came from—and that's when I noticed a few characters that seemed out of place. Anyone familiar with the mob scene that is Times Square should be familiar with the people that wander the sidewalks dressed as unlicensed versions of Elmo, Mickey Mouse, and the like. There are so many deformed versions of these characters that anything legitimate sticks out.

Officially licensed versions of Spongebob, Patrick, and Dora the Explorer were hanging around set, and the storyline of the scene started to click. How could a teenage mutant ninja turtle walk around crowded Times Square? If people mistake him for a mascot character like the others.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" might be over, but a new "Star Wars" animated series is coming to fill its place.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Disney is developing a new TV series called "Star Wars Rebels" that will premiere on television in 2014. It will first launch as a one-hour special on the Disney Channel, before turning into a TV series on Disney XD.

"Star Wars Rebels" is set to take place in the 20 years between the events of "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope." According to THR, the animated series is set "in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape."

Production on the series has reportedly already begun, with Simon Kinberg executive producing "Star Wars Rebels" and writing its first episode. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars'" supervising director Dave Filoni and "Young Justice's" Greg Weisman are also executive producing. No voice actors have been announced as of yet.

"I couldn't be more excited to explore new corners of the 'Star Wars' universe,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. "I think 'Star Wars Rebels' will capture the look, feel and fun that both kids and their parents love about 'Star Wars.'"

The first footage from "Star Wars Rebels" will be shown at the "Star Wars" Celebration Europe event. Meanwhile, "Star Wars: Episode VII" is expected to hit theaters in summer 2015 with a new "Star Wars" feature film coming out every summer after that.

Seems like we here at MTV News aren't the only ones speculating about what to expect from the upcoming "Star Wars" trilogy. Last Wednesday, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, "Star Wars" fans were given the opportunity to give the "Star Trek Into Darkness" director (J. J. Abrams) a few suggestions of their own. Amongst these fans were Lando Calrissian himself (Billy Dee Williams) and the slightly misplaced, but ever-lovable Captain Kirk (William Shatner).

Sadly, most of the "Star Wars" suggestions given to Mr. Abrams were to make Princess Leia hook up with Chewbacca. While this might be...interesting... to see play out on the silver screen, we can't help but think that revisiting some of those memorable minor characters from the original trilogy would make "Star Wars VII" a masterpiece. Take Malakili for example, the heavy-set rancor keeper in the first act of "Return of the Jedi."

Who?
A human born on the planet Corellia, Malakili grew up with an expansive interest in wild animals and alien creatures of all shapes and sizes. In fact, he's so enthralled with them that in the year 32 BBY he decides to join the Circus Horrificus as a beast handler. Owned by Gargonn the Hutt, the Circus Horrificus travels from planet to planet showcasing its wide array of monstrous creatures; with Malakili eventually becoming the main attraction.

However, after a tragic incident on Nar Shadaa (in which a carnivorous Arqet breaks free of its restraints and slaughters a dozen innocent people), Malakili is sold into slavery working for the notorious crime lord Jabba the Hutt.

Why?
Malakili's knack for beast handling is inimitable. Not only does he successfully train Jabba the Hutt's rancor for battle, but he also develops a unique bond with the deadly creature; which eventually enables Malakili to ride the rancor. I mean, talk about trust. They even share meals together! If Malakili were to be included in "Star Wars VII," it would give us further insight into the vast world of dangerous alien creatures that the original trilogy was so sorely lacking.

How?
Given Malakili's long history with Jabba the Hutt, it would make complete sense if he were to pop up in either the "Boba Fett" or "Young Han Solo" spin-off films; considering the fact that both of those characters deal heavily with the gross, overweight gangster. Alternatively, Malakili could turn up in a cameo role in "Star Wars VII."

According to the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Malakili escapes with Jabba's head cook after the sail barge explosion at the Sarlacc Pit. Together, the two of them found an eatery in Mos Eisley called the Crystal Moon Restaurant. Perhaps, the elderly Luke and Leia could stop by Crystal Moon for a quick bite to eat sometime during the next three "Star Wars" films.

In the morning after the weekend box office totals have been tallied, the word on "Star Trek Into Darkness" is that of slight disappointment, as least in regards to the domestic take. J.J. Abrams' sequel to the 2009 reboot managed to do almost as well as its predecessor, taking in an estimated $70.6 million, according to Box Office Mojo. That's below the last "Star Trek's" 3-day weekend total, $75.2 million, which did not have the benefit of higher ticket prices and surcharges from 3-D and IMAX.

But the lower numbers in the U.S. did not spell disaster for the crew of the Enterprise. "Star Trek Into Darkness" still performed strongly overseas and has already totaled $164 million in ticket sales. Its domestic opening weekend alone puts it into the top ten releases so far this year.

Elsewhere, the big May releases continued to perform well. Disney's "Iron Man 3" grossed the $1 billion mark, and "The Great Gatsby" added $23 million to its domestic total, which sits at $90 million.

For the spoiler hyper-phobic, you need not worry. As this column is called "Five Reasons to See," it was written with the assumption that anyone reading has not seen it and therefore needs some kind of convincing. If you'd like to learn more about the twists in "Star Trek Into Darkness," we'd recommend checking out this story.

The critical reception for "Star Trek Into Darkness" has been a complex one to say the least. There are the Trekkies, who have largely dismissed it because this isn't the "Star Trek" that they know. Then there's those who say it's mindless fun. That subgroup is then split between those who think that's a compliment and those who don't.

Regardless of which category you think you might fall into, there are good reasons to see "Star Trek Into Darkness," five to be exact.

Big Scale Sci-fi
See "Star Trek Into Darkness" on the biggest screen you can managed. (IMAX would be ideal, but make sure to sit in the back.) The movie is a spectacle in every sense of the word when it's applied to movies. The proof is right there as you watch the film, which was clearly designed to be viewed in a theater. The scale of "Star Trek Into Darkness" becomes part of the theater-going experience because of how it used the screen.

Action
J.J. Abrams can direct an action sequence. There are few people who will contest you on that point. The opening sequence of the film and a short jaunt throw open space rank among the best stuff Abrams has ever shot. He understands the architecture of action and can mount a thrilling set piece pretty much out of thin air.

The Enterprise Crew
If there's one thing that Abrams definitely got right with his "Star Trek," it's the new crew of the Enterprise. Each actor has to step into a role that not only has been performed before, but has reached a level of pop culture significance. And yet each member of the crew inhabits the role like it was always his or hers.

Benedict Cumberbatch
When it comes to John Harrison, it isn't the twist that people will be talking about. (The real identity is surprisingly insignificant in the grand scheme of things.) What people should pay closer attention to is the man behind the twist. Cumberbatch turns in one hell of a performance, doing a ton without a lot of time to do it in. He's by far the most compelling character in the movie, and it should hopefully prove to others that we need much more Cumberbatch.

For Fun
At some point in the recent past, "fun" became the word used to damn something with faint praise. Plot holes are another issue and shouldn't be overlooked in the name of enjoyment, but part of the reason that "Into Darkness" is able to move at such a quick pace is that it gets sloppy with the plot and motivation. To slow down to explain the story, as is, would mean sacrificing the pace. It's not a perfect situation, but it's worth noting.

Disney character Merida from the movie "Brave" got a makeover this week, and loads of parents weren't having it. The animated heroine got all gussied up in preparation for her induction into the Disney Princess Collection (who knew such pomp and circumstance existed?). Disney released a rendering and it became evident that little Merida had received a sassy new look.

Parents complained that she had a deeper neckline, fuller hips, lipstick and voluptuously teased hair. There was even talk of a 'come hither' look. As word spread more and more parents weighed in and agreed that yes, Merida was looking damn fine. Before we could even wipe the drool from our chins, our nation had plummeted into some serious sexy cartoon character terrain.

Of course, this comes right on the heels of the recent Candy Land board rejiggering. Queen Frostine got fishnets and frumpy ol' Gramma Nut allegedly got a boob job (emphasis on allegedly).

Back in the day, board games featured hungry hippos and an animated movie meant watching Winnie the Pooh futz around with his honey pot. Yes, Pooh might've been borderline depressive with low self-esteem, but we could wrap our minds around his appearance (just not our arms around his waist).

Sure, Betty Boop used to wear a garter belt, and Thelma from "Scooby Doo" was all about her school girl skirt, but for every Betty there was a plump robotic maid named Rosey, and for every Thelma there was a gangly Olive Oyl.

Modern animation has gone off the rails with its sexy factor, especially when it comes to these Disney princesses. Ariel…seriously?! Smoking hot. Princess Jasmine in a tube top? Wowza. And what about the guys? What woman in her early 30s can honestly say she didn't learn to French kiss on a Prince Eric doll?

So what's the solution? Pockmarks and rosacea. If Merida is a teenager, give her some acne scars across her cheeks. Bestow Jasmine with the freshman 15, and Pocahontas with a bad case of pubescent menstrual cramps. Let Cinderella experiment with glitter makeup and lipstick that's three shades too dark, so that one day she'll look back at pictures from her youth and realize she was unknowingly made up like a chola for every single school dance.

Yes, lets create some cartoon characters that girls can truly relate to.

"Star Trek Into Darkness" hits theaters Friday, making it the 12th film in the "Star Trek" movie franchise. With Benedict Cumberbatch filling the "bad guy" shoes here, it seems only fair that we take a look back and rank all of the Star Trek movie villains that have graced the big screen over the past three decades. You're welcome.

11. The Whale Probe From Space - "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986)
This is probably the weirdest villain on the list because, well, it's a whale-loving space monster looking to reunite with its Humpback brethren by emptying all of Earth's oceans.

10. Sybok - "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" (1989)
The half-brother of Spock, Sybok (Laurence Luckinbill) is pretty much a backwards Vulcan. Emotions are more important than logic to him. Here, he brainwashes everyone so he can get to the middle of space to meet God...who turns out to be an alien that crushes him to death.

9. Nero - "Star Trek" (2009)
Nero (Eric Bana) is an evil Romulan who travels back from the future seeking revenge on Spock for his wife's death. He's got this stuff called “Red Matter” that he likes to inject into planets to create black holes.

8. Ru'afo - "Star Trek: Insurrection" (1998)
Ru'afo (F. Murray Abraham) is an alien obsessed with maintaining his youth. So much so, that all the surgeries he's had makes him into Stretch Face. Plus, he wants to harvest the radiation from his home planet's rings to keep him young.

7. Shinzon - "Star Trek: Nemesis" (2002)
Praetor Shinzon (Tom Hardy) is Captain Picard's evil clone. He suffers from a weird clone blood disease, so he hunts down Picard to steal his blood for a cure. He also wants to blow up Earth for some reason.

6. Dr. Soran - "Star Trek: Generations" (1994)
Dr. Soran (Malcolm McDowell) is obsessed the heavenly ribbon of space energy called The Nexus. He's so obsessed, in fact, that he destroys solar systems just to get back inside of it.

5. The Borg Queen - "Star Trek: First Contact" (1996)
The Borg Queen (Alice Krige) is the creepy mouthpiece of the cybernetic collective known as Borg. The Enterprise travels back in time to stop her as she attempts to assimilate all of planet Earth.

4. V'Ger - "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979)
The V'Ger is a highly intelligent machine cloud that evolved from a century's old space probe. It's returning to Earth with the information it's collected, destroying ships and planets in the process.

3. Kruge - "Star Trek III: The Search For Spock" (1984)
Kruge (Christopher Lloyd) is a Klingon captain out to steal the Genesis, originally introduced in "Star Trek II." He's the Klingon that killed Kirk's son. They end up fighting on a volcanic planet, leaving Kruge hanging from a cliff. He refuses to be saved by Kirk. Klingons...

2. General Chang - "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" (1991)
General Chang (Christopher Plummer) is the Klingon commander who frames Kirk and McCoy in an attempt to start a war between the Klingons and Federation, leaving the two men to spend most of the movie in a Klingon prison. And just so there's no confusion, Plummer plays one badass Klingon.

1. Khan - "Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan" (1982)
Khan Noonian Singh, aka Khan (Ricardo Montalban) is one badass mofo and the all-time best "Star Trek" villain ever. He's out for revenge on Captain Kirk for exiling him to a desolate planet. He's the one who steals the Genesis Wave that Kruge was out for in "Part III."

Please stop joy crying. There are some things to discuss first.

Yes, it's true. Some publication out there (specifically Daily Mail) has reported something to the tune of "Christopher Nolan has had informal talks with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about directing 'Bond 24.' "

This isn't isn't coming out of left field. Nolan has filled his recent films, "Inception" and "The Dark Knight Rises" especially, with references to 007, and he has previously expressed interested in eventually directing a film. He told Empire, "It would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things."

But there are a few problems with this report.

The main problem right now is timing. Nolan is pretty much in full "Interstellar" mode. He has already cast his principles, Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, and he's got a late 2014 release date on the books. That's a quick turnaround for an epic sci-fi adventure that leaves little time for anything else.

The Bond producers have previously stated that they would like to follow-up "Skyfall" sooner rather than later. Since "Bond 23" did outrageously well at the box office, getting the 50-year-old series back to its film-every-two-years schedule appears to be a top priority. That would put "Bond 24" on the calendar for 2014, or 2015 if they needed extra time, and "Skyfall's" director Sam Mendes already passed on the job.

So how could this possibly happen, you ask. We're going to be perfectly honest. This seems highly unlikely. For Nolan to direct the next Bond movie, Sony and MGM would have to probably wait until 2016, a full four years after "Skyfall." Considering that a hiatus that long would cool the buzz around the series and that Daniel Craig is getting older every day, it's unlikely Broccoli and Wilson would hold off on "Bond 24" just to wait for Nolan. But keep an eye on "Bond 25."

The teaser trailer for "Last Vegas" has it right when it touts that the movie is "going to be legendary." The film brings together esteemed actors Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas and Kevin Kline in a "The Hangover"-style romp set in Las Vegas.

Except, with a cast like this, "Last Vegas" could end up being significantly better than "The Hangover," despite all that movie's wonderful absurdities like hanging out with Mike Tyson's tiger or finding the wrong Doug. There's a scene in the "Last Vegas" trailer where Freeman is drunk on Vodka Red Bulls, and the result is kind of hilarious.

Directed by Jon Turteltaub, "Last Vegas" also feels a lot like "Grown Ups" on crack. In that film, Adam Sandler brought together some of his closest comedian friends to star in an ensemble comedy where the biggest draw is just seeing them riff off of one another. The same can be said here, except this time is Douglas joking around with De Niro instead of Rob Schneider playing off David Spade.

"Last Vegas" is due out on November 1.
