Add a little sprig of garnish and a fancy side dish and you’re sure to impress even your mother in law.

Only hard-core fans of Kaufman and Hoffman may ultimately want to watch this ambitious directing debut by the clever author of the screenplays of ’Being John Malkovich’ and ’Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.’ A bizarre story about a theater director who goes haywire on a Macarthur ’genious’ grant, taking decades making a life-size recreation of his own life and everybody in it inside a giant warehouse, this movie winds up being repetitious and mired it its own gloom.

Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, wife of Daniel Perl who was the South Asia Bureau chief for the Wall Street Journal. In 2002 Daniel was kidnapped and later beheaded by radical Muslim extremist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
Everything about A Mighty Heart worked. Performances by Dan Futterman who plays Danny Pearl, Archie Panjabi playing Asra Nomani and Irrfan Khan as the Captain, grabbed the screen and would not let go.

Peter Pan, the “man-boy” who refused to grow up, would have loved Port Lucaya. It’s not that they don’t take life seriously there. They do. They just do it with a certain style. Call it the “local default” that helps those who visit feel as if they are young again. With the laid back pace of the natives, time seems to slow down. There is no sense of urgency for the mundane. They’re not hectic folk, and in Lucaya the living is easy.
